I don't care what anyone says, this movie was a blast. Josh Hartnett completely understood the assignment from beginning to end. I liked the idea of us watching a Shyamalan movie where the audience is in on the twist - that being that the guy taking his daughter to a concert is a serial killer who the FBI is trying to capture.
There was a decent amount of tension, especially in the front half of the film. It loses a *tiny* bit of steam once the story leaves the concert, and a lot of stuff doesn't make any sense when you think about it, but I don't believe this movie was made for thinking. It is a legitimately hilarious film at points, with one of the funniest after-credits scenes I've ever seen.
Shyamalan gets a lot of flak, and a lot of it is well earned. But in a film world that is absolutely saturated with mediocre rehashes and reboots and super hero film after super hero film, I think it's cool that he's out here doing his silly little original movies, even if they don't always stick the landing. Is **Trap** well and truly a *good* film? I'll let you be the judge of that. But is it *entertaining*? That isn't even a damn question.
