Nothing super expansive to say here it just sucks ass.
I've never been a company loyalist by any means, but Sony consoles are definitely the home of some of my fondest memories. The PS1 and PS2 are the backbone of my aesthetic, introducing me to the melodrama and mechanical complexity of all kinds of JRPGs. Japan Studios' catalogue makes up like 60% of my favorite games.
But that's all gone by the wayside lately. I'm not a news reporter, you're already aware: between **Concord** and the PS5 Pro, Sony has been hitting levels of hubris that haven't been around since the PS3 era. But I'd argue that this generation is even is worse, because *at least the PS3 had some wild shit going on*. Yeah that gen sucked, but like, we got **Tokyo Jungle**, you know? What have we gotten on the PS5? A couple of exclusives, nothing very interesting, and 8 million remasters of the same "prestige" games from last gen.
I became mostly a [[One Year of PC Gaming|PC person in 2022]] and frankly, I haven't felt much of a need to look back. Between my computer and [[Thoughts On The Steam Deck OLED|Steam Deck]], I've been set. All the cool indie stuff tends to show up there first, and everything else is either also on there, or will be eventually. Yeah there's a bad port every now and then, but it's a small price to pay for a whole-ass computer that can do more than play games, and doesn't require me to pay extra for the internet I'm already paying for!!!
There's nothing in Sony's future I'm excited for. Not a single solitary thing! That's just depressing to think about, as someone who looks back on the old days so fondly. All that seems to be happening is a bunch of live-service games that I'm not going to play. What a bummer!
