## 2025-02-01 This movie was better than I expected but given my expectations were like, less than 0, that doesn't mean much tbh! I think the effects were pretty good and there was some great suspense, but it just goes on for much too long. If you cut out half-an-hour I think it'd be a lot better received by me. It has some great shots too, so that's nice. I dunno. It's firmly a *4* out of *7* for me in that I somewhat enjoyed it in the moment but immediately forgot about it after the movie was over. Also my wife guessed the twist super early on, so it was pretty predictable on top of everything else. I think **The First Omen** got a lot of good will because it's a reboot/prequel of a series that had one great movie and three sequels that were each progressively worse than the last. So again: expectations. It's a fantastic prequel to **The Omen**, but I don't think that's enough for it to stand on its own.
