[[2026 Books and Manga]]

With the news that [[Platinum Games]] of all developers was working on a **Last Ronin** game, I decided to finally jump in and figure out what all the hype was about. I came away…severely whelmed.
I dunno, maybe the hype about this story got to me, but I simply wasn’t impressed — especially after I found out this series started in *2020*. If you had told me it was from the early 2000s with all the edge that came with that decade, I’d believe you. There’s just nothing here that really connected with me. It feels like a comic for old men who wanted a “big boy TMNT story for big boys that’s dark and bloody and has cussing in it.”
It’s paced horrendously across it’s four or five issues, and has one of the weakest, most pathetic villains I’ve ever seen in **TMNT**. When I hit the last page I was like Zuko holding that scroll and going “that’s it? Where’s the rest of it??”
Apparently there’s a sequel series, but I don’t know if I can bring myself to read it. I’d be shocked if it was any better. Perhaps it’d be unfair of me not to take a peek. But as it stands, I really hope Platinum Games is able to make this series cooler than it ended up being. Because *yikes*.
