[[2026 Movies]] ## 2026-02-05 Nice to see that Sam Raimi’s still got it. This is the closest we’ve gotten to a new [[Horror]] movie from Raimi since **Drag Me to Hell** in 2009[^1]. A movie about a boss and his employee who get stranded on an island, **Send Help** also exists as the most loving tribute to the TV show **Survivor** I’ve personally seen. All that being said, **Send Help** is also Raimi at his most restrained. It isn’t nearly as off the wall as his earlier work has been. Perhaps he’s sobered with age, or maybe just wanted to do something more grounded. Regardless of the reason, I think it works in the movie’s favor. It helps that **Send Help** is extremely funny, in a way that I always want my horror movies to be. Rachell McAdams is the type of A-list actor I like — one who isn’t against going absolutely sicko mode for a role you wouldn’t normally expect for her. Dylan O’Brien is a great compliment as well, and the way they bounce off of each other feels believable. This might be the first “will they / won’t they” movie I’ve ever watched where I genuinely wasn’t sure if they would or wouldn’t. Lastly want to point out this movie’s color grading and general film quality. So many movies just feel so *ugly* and eye-straining to watch these days, at least for me. **Send Help** doesn’t have this problem at all. Everything feels authentic and lived in, free of the green screen effect that makes my head throb. Raimi isn’t afraid to let a shot linger either, which is used to great effect. Trying to not spoil it — call this an easy recommend. [^1]: No, **Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness** doesn’t fucking count.
