[[2026 Games]]

## 2026-02-08
I’m going through every Vanillaware game again because…I dunno! It’s the [[PlayStation Vita]] era I guess. I’m going chronologically through the **Vita** games after going through [[Princess Crown]], so **Odin Spehre** was first. It still holds up solidly, and I’d actually consider it superior to [[Muramasa - Demon Blade]][^1]. There’s more sauce to the gameplay overall, and the amount of characters makes it easier to swallow the somewhat repetitive environments.
The story isn’t really mind-blowing, but makes up for that with its presentation. The classic, literary vibes are cool as a framing device, and bring to mind a ye olde medieval play. Some characters are more fun to play than others, but they’re all enjoyable to some extent. And because of the briefness of their campaigns, even if you don’t like one, you’ll move on to one you do relatively quickly.
The true ending is kind of dumb to unlock without a guide, but otherwise it holds up quite well. Excited to get back to all the other Vanillaware games with fresh eyes.
[^1]: in its base form, at least. I’m gonna go through the DLC and see if that changes my thoughts.
