Neurocracy 2.049 is an episodic sci-fi game that combines elements from alternate reality games (ARGs), hypertext fiction, and epistolary novels into something more than the sum of those parts. In adopting the Wikipedia format for its gameplay mechanics, Neurocracy 2.049 fully embraces its experimental approach to non-linear and interactive narratives. Neurocracy 2.049 invites you to explore the year 2049 and piece together what has happened, and what is happening, solely from the information available on Omnipedia, the game's Wikipedia analogue. Most of Omnipedia's articles are in orbit around a high-profile assassination that throws the world of 2049 into disarray, turning you into a detective as you find clues, draw connections, compare notes with other sleuths, and ultimately solve the murder. Neurocracy 2.049's current shape was materialised through audience interaction, with a community of players joining hands in the Talk pages of Omnipedia to roleplay as editors and tackle the game's mysteries together. Their findings and working theories influenced the writing and direction of Neurocracy 2.049's ten episodes as they were released on a weekly basis in the summer of 2023. We also provided players with a companion app to create conspiracy boards directly from Omnipedia, which enabled us to consult these boards to see what connections players were (and weren't) making. Additionally, certain clues and reveals were deleted from Omnipedia during its live release, prompting players to archive this missing information in the Talk pages. The result is that the truth of Neurocracy 2.049's murder mystery now exists in the hands of the community, offering a narrative layer that gives life and personality to the pages of Omnipedia while capturing the experience of being present for the live release. ### Link the thing you're makin! https://neurocracy.site
