This post is brought to you by The Verge's **Installer** series showcasing the exact same boring home screen a consecutive 8 times.

My home screen is built on [[Smart Launcher 6]] - I don't actually use many of its fancy features, but the UX it builds for my Galaxy is immaculate. The padding and animations and the way it blends into the color scheme of my wallpaper fucks heavy, for lack of a better phrase. It also lets me use Recursive as the system font, which as we all know is [[My Style|very important to me]]. The art is a rotation of my OCs, as created by my esteemed friends - the one in this screenshot is by [mordread](https://bsky.app/profile/mor-dread.bsky.social), make sure to check them out.
## The Apps
From left to right, top to bottom:
### Todoist
I'll just post what I posted in my original note about it:
![[Todoist]]
That's also where the widget draws from.
### Apple Music
Still in my opinion the best streaming app out there because it lets me upload my own music alongside it. The minute they get rid of that is the minute I finally build that Plex NAS that's been on the backburner.
### Zettlenotes (Kind of)
This isn't an app as much as it is a shortcut to the app **Zettlenotes**. I love [[Obsidian]] but as of now it's not great for quickly jotting something down on the go. I pointed the folder for **Zettlenotes**' quick capture feature directly into my vault. So when I tab that pencil I can instantly generate a quick note in **Obsidian** for later.
### Phone
I know you know what this is stop playing.
### Firefox
I can feel is slow death, but Chromium will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.
### Obsidian
That one app that I won't shut up about.
### Shortwave
This company, like seemingly every other, has gone buck-wild with """AI""" bullshit lately. But unfortunately for me, it's still the absolute best implementation of **Google Inbox**[^1] that I've ever found. Seriously let me know if you can find better, but this app is like a 1:1 version of what was once the greatest email app ever. Even with all that said though, I'm thinking of switching to **Fastmail** soon, assuming the process isn't too painful.
### MyNoise

## Folders

### WhatsApp
Trust me I wish I was free too - but if you're brown there's like a 98% chance you have this app. My only other option is to just lose contact with my family and I actually like some of them.
### Moshidon
For my money the best Mastodon app on Android. Truthfully that's not saying much, but I'll take what I can get.
### Auldnoir
[Boy wouldn't this be the best time for a plug of the coolest forum on the internet? It sure would be. But who would do that? Who would directly link their forum while talking about how amazing it is in a random tangent on a blog post? We'll simply never know.](https://discourse.auldnoir.org/)
### Bluesky
Twitter...2!!!
### Beeper
It's an app that puts all your messaging apps in one place. Relatively helpful, especially because I know people who still only want to communicate through ***Instagram*** and I'm not opening that app without a gun pointed at my head.

### Relay
A method to use **Reddit** without having to...you know, *use* **Reddit**. Great material design UI/UX, easy to use. No complaints really.
### Capy Reader
RSS Reader that I have connected to **Feedbin**. It does exactly what it needs to do with zero fluff. Thanks for not being shit **Capy Reader**!
### YouTube Revanced
**YouTube** without being **YouTube**. This app is like the single reason I'll never switch back to iOS tbh. Until I can use something like this on an iPhone with a single easy API install, then I'm gonna be on Android forever.
