[[Favorites of 2025]] Some things don’t fit neatly into a particular category, but they’re still things I loved in 2025. They’ve all been compiled here, in my list of favorite things. --- # Physical & Digital Things ## [[Obsidian]] A surprise to absolutely no one, **Obsidian** continues to be the most impactful piece of technology I own. I use it for everything, from running my website to building out my creative projects to journaling to keeping track of important information. It’ll be on this list every year in the foreseeable future. I will never be normal about it, sorry. ## [[Thoughts on Linux Mint|Linux Mint]] I promise this isn’t just because of the name. I finally got **Linux Mint** running on a laptop this year and it basically brought it back from the dead. It's easy to use and lets me forget about the absolute dumpster fire that is Windows. I'll likely put it on my main PC in 2026. ## [[Thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy Fold 6|Galaxy Fold 6]] Finally, a foldable phone that actually works, yippee. I love using my Fold. Even now, months later, the novelty hasn’t worn out. Popping it open to do some reading or get some light work done or even do some silly doodling feels smooth and simple. I got used to the single screen pretty quickly, and honestly, its limited space may as well be a benefit, because it keeps me off my phone when I'm feeling too lazy to unfold. Good-ass device in my humble opinion. ## [[Airbuds is My Ideal Social Music Experience|Airbuds]] Airbuds lets me do that thing where I can recommend music to people and get recommendations from them nonstop, without actually bothering them, so that’s pretty cool. It's a very “Gen-Z-aah” app, but that hasn’t made it any less entertaining to see what my friends are spinning in their metaphorical CD players. Its scrobbling still needs some work, but I know my unreasonable amount of music listening is an outlier they probably weren’t prepared for. Cute and fun and neat. ## [[Raycast]] The best new app I’ve used this year. I don’t go a day without Raycast, especially now that it’s on Mac *and* PC. A shortcut app at its base form, it’s a godsend for people like me, who have [[ADHD]] and feel like that taking their hands off the keyboard for something as silly as using a mouse is an affront to god. It’s only gotten better for me as the plugin store expands, letting me do everything from browse through my [[Raindrop]] bookmarks to pull covers off of SteamGridDB that I use for my Obsidian [[Games]] library. One of those things that has a high frontloaded investment, but with a payoff that’s so very worth it. ## Hatsune Miku Desk Figurine ![[My Favorite Things of the Year 2025-1766948312907.png]] I won this cutie at my local Round1. I’m love her. I like all my figurines of course, but the idea of having one hanging over the edge of my desk is very novel and space-efficient. It’s like Miku is chilling out with me as I get work done throughout the day. I’m gonna look for (or win) more of these in 2026 I think. ## Timbuk2 Bag ![[My Favorite Things of the Year 2025-1766948376353.png]] You ever get something that you love so much it makes you want to do it more? The last time I felt that was when I got a tombow pen that made me want to write more. The most recent is certainly my Timbuk2 Bag. This thing is so well-made and nice that I legit get excited about trips just because it means I get to pull it out. It feels durable enough to last a decade, which is great, because I don’t see myself using any other bag any time soon. ## Anbernic RG477M ![[Anbernic RG477M-1765131058026.jpg]] I experimented with many [[Less Doomscrolling More Silly Lil Tech Toys|silly lil tech toys]] this year, but the **RG477M** has shockingly been my favorite of them all. It feels premium, it’s powerful, and the 4:3 screen is honestly a boon. I don’t play much widescreen stuff when it comes to retro games, and the hacks that are built for the [[PlayStation 2]] and [[GameCube]] are often buggy and detract from the experience. The screen is gorgeous despite not being OLED, and having a 120hz screen makes input lag basically nonexistent. And that aspect ratio makes it tall, which is perfect for my *big, meaty, claws!!!* I’ve cleared a ton of games on it, and plan to do so even more in 2026. ## New Queen Bed I upgraded from a full to a nice big queen that I can now hang out on during discord calls instead of sitting at my desk for work and then said calls for a total of 10 hours a day. Yippee! It’s so comfy to stretch my legs out on. I’m even writing this post on it with my Galaxy Tablet. :3 ## Clothes After losing 40~ pounds and counting, I’ve been slowly swapping my wardrobe out. I never had a sense of style until recently, so it’s been fun to wear clothes that I think are cool and look nice. Maybe one day I’ll stop wearing clothes with graphics on them, but that day's not coming any time soon, sorry. # Conceptual Things ## Stretching and Exercise A large contributor to that weight loss. But the stretching is more important. Stretch! Every day. Future you will thank you. ## Writing The thing that keeps me sane, creatively fulfilled, and connected to the world. I’ll be doing this until the day I die, I’m pretty sure. ## Friends & My Mom Sorry, you’re not things, obviously. But you’re certainly my favorite. ## Self Improvement This year I learned to stand up for myself in ways that I didn’t realize were possible. I’m pretty happy about that.
