[[2026 Movies]]  ## 2026-05-11 A movie as dumb as I expected and hoped it would be. Better than the original by a country mile — not that that’s saying much, but still. The choreo is good, the special effects aren’t gross sludge as is the style of big-budget films these days. Lots of fun easter eggs related to the games, some subtle, some not so subtle in a “people yell FINISH HIM” and shit sort of way. I enjoyed it more than any **Mortal Kombat** game I’ve played in recent memory, that’s for sure. Perhaps it says more about me than the series *or* the film, but I can live with that. I’m glad I saw it on Imax, it was appropriately bombastic and made the movie significantly more enjoyable. Check it out if you just wanna turn your brain off and watch the guy from **The Raid** punch the guy from **John Wick 4**.
