[[Blogroll]] the more time passes the more i love hanging out on [my forum](https://discourse.auldnoir.org/) than anywhere else. bluesky is fine as a 1 to 1000 sort of outreach but i don't find myself posting there nearly as much as i do on Auldnoir, and it's not just because i run the place[^1] it lets me long post, it has lots of POC, it has features that I appreciate as far as a social space go, and it's more active than i ever could have imagined. I've talked about how much I like [[Thoughts on the Discourse Forum Software|Discourse as Software]], but from a social angle: with Cohost gone I haven't really felt the urge to spend a lot of time anywhere else besides my discord. It's nice that scale isn't really a problem. I doubt I'd enjoy my site nearly as much if 10000 people were on it, but it definitely fills a void that I doubt think my blog ever will, given that I don't have comments on here, which is that sense of interaction. I noted [[Sometimes it Feels Like I Have Nothing to Say - 09172024|that a lot of people on Cohost are starting blogs]], and while I do encourage that, I don't know if it'll fulfil the same things that Cohost did as a space. An RSS feed is great, but even as someone who's written hundreds of blog posts sometimes, I know it can feel like posting into the void. Maybe start a Discourse forum instead? I know it's a stupid name, but Cohost was full of it so it's not like it'd be inaccurate lol. Anyways yeah big fan of my forum!! Thanks to everyone that uses it or lurks. I hope to keep it running for a long, long time. [^1]: tho that certainly doesn't *hurt*
