But still my least favorite **Evil Dead** movie. Whilst the camera-work was impressive and some of the horror itself was pretty effective, I walked out of the theater whelmed at best. The attempts at addressing abuse and generational violence were…misguided, at best. These are lofty topics too subtle for an **Evil Dead** movie to handle, especially compared to the very in-your-face theme of addiction running through the 2013 reboot. And whilst I thought **Evil Dead Rise** was devoid of comedy, **Burn** may as well have been the funeral at the beginning of the film. There are flashes here and there — Thya is a standout deadite in particular — but overall it’s just too dreary for my tastes, especially coming off of a rewatch of [[Ready or Not 2 - Here I Come]]. All this isn’t to say you should skip **Evil Dead Burn** — as I mentioned, it’s still a solid film. But it won’t be in my rewatch rotation nearly as much as the other films in the series, **Rise** included.
