## 2024-12-26 Got this as a gift - it's pretty good! I always like roguelikes that do something a little bit different than another card game or whatever. I had a pretty strong build going that lasted me for about an hour before I died for my first run, which is the only run I've done so far. That makes me a little on edge about run length though - I'm not sure how long a run is on average, but I tend to like my roguelikes in the hour to hour-thirty range, if not shorter. It's part of why [[Roguelikes and Landslides|Tiny Rogues]] might be my current favorite roguelike, with runs at about 30-45 minutes. ![[Dungeon Clawler-20241227125741556.png]] The game has you pick up your items from a claw machine to do damage or buff/defend your character, and it uses that central mechanic quite well. It's very satisfying to do a good "pull," so to speak, and get a bunch of swords and shields that wipe out monsters. There's also fluff balls you can catch in the machine that you can use in your advantage as well. I found that there's some luck to it, as with any claw machine - so if you want any deaths in a roguelike to be your fault and your fault alone, then you might wanna skip this one! For me, that adds a layer of casualness to it that let me just sit back and try my luck. Even with the bad pull that ended up killing me, it still had about a 98% accuracy rate compared to any claw machine in America...
