## 2025-01-17 I have tried to get into this game multiple times but it didn't work until I activated the following: - Max emulator fast-forward speed - Exp Gain x4 to 16x Cheat With these two additions I'm 14 hours in with no signs of stopping. It's a very gameplay-oriented **Dragon Quest**, with lots of opportunity for team-building. You know I love me a Job System. I turn that EXP modifier cheat on and off quite frequently though, because each Job for each character starts at level 1, which means absolute METRIC TONS of grinding to do anything actually interesting with the game's character customization, like skill inheritance. This would usually mean figuring out the best way to grind Metal Slimes, but that's a waste of my time. I've filled out a couple of skill paths and it took 20 minutes instead of 20 hours. We're all gonna die one day, you know? I like building my own characters instead of having a pre-defined one though. Most **Dragon Quest** casts aren't very charismatic anyways, and the stories are always vignettes focused on the characters of each town you travel to, so it's fun getting to make my friends and have them help in battle. It's cute! I would really like to try out this game's multiplayer features!!! I might make Flynn pick it up so we can try running a few dungeons together or something, just to get a feel for what it's like. Very sad I missed out on the game during the peak of its popularity, but no one I knew as a kid would have picked this up to play it with me anyways. Definitely built for Japan as far as the multiplayer goes. The plot is...kind of interesting? I like the fallen angel bit, and how the game doesn't shy away from death and how it affects people. Time will tell if it does anything interesting in the long-term. Gonna keep chugging along until I get to post-game: I hear that's a huge part of this game and has some of the most interesting gameplay and plot developments. We shall see!
