Yep, [[the Nostalgia Arc]] continues. This is the most recent **Digivice** from [[Bandai Namco]], if I recall correctly. It's very cute. I never got to have one of these as a kid, so the experience feels novel, even in 2025. But that said, the **X** is great for a working adult like me. Its coolest feature is basically a "Stasis" that you can put your digimon in for as long as you want. This freezes your lil pal, making it so that it doesn't grow, but doesn't need to be taken care of either. You can turn this on and off whenever you want, which is perfect for when I know I'm about to get my ass beat at work.
Other neat thing is that you can have one active digimon and two on reserve that you can swap between whenever, with the other two being in that "Stasis" mode. I'm sticking to one for now, but I can see that being a nice way to keep your favorite lil guy while still "actively" playing the game.
On that note, **Digivices** are like **Tamagotchi**, but with a training element on top. You feed your digital monster and power it up before going into little multi-stage dungeons to have them fight other monsters and level them up. This sounds more involved than it is - "dungeons" are like a minute long. But the combat is *juuuust* involved enough to make my primitive brain feel some joy. A battle starts with a dice being rolled - the higher the number, the easier it is to do the timed mini-game that maximizes your digimon's damage. As you do this, your monster levels up and gets access to higher level dungeons with better rewards.
It's fun and cute, and a lot less demanding than a **Tamagotchi**. I like it as a distraction that stops me from picking up my phone and getting blasted by poison. Only thing that sucks is the lack of a backlight. I don't need that particular part of the nostalgia arc I think.
