## 2025-10-04 A game for sickos that love spreadsheets. I’m already planning to use this page as a doc for planning and drafting team compositions. It has its hooks in me pretty deep! For those not in the know the **Digimon Story** series is different from the **Digimon World** series. The latter is a closer to a auto-battling monster raising tamagotchi simulator. **Time Stranger** is the latter, and is more of an **Shin Megami Tensei**-type experience, with a larger focus on plot and [[JRPG]] mechanics. All that said, this is the **Digimon** game with the biggest budget they’ve ever had, and it shows, because it’s immediately the best **Digimon Story** game, if not the best **Digimon** game in general. Unlike **Cyber Sleuth**, it has a localization that makes sense, and graphics that look…well, more like a PlayStation 4 game than a PlayStation Vita game, lmao. It has a lot of Digimon too, which is great, although I’ve only used the ones that make me nostalgic. I’ve taken to calling myself a Season Wunner, which I feel is a pretty close approximation to Pokemon’s Gen Wunners. The dungeon crawling in **Time Stranger** is my favorite part! The story seems neat enough, and I love that we’re finally delving into Iliad, which is **Digimon** lore that’s long been mysterious to its fans.[^1] That’s very cool for weirdos like me! But building your team of [[Rounding Up Some Little Guys|little guys]] is the real draw here. I love digivolving my guys into my favorites, and training them on my DigiFarm to get specific stats for specific evolutions. I’m out here planning three or four steps ahead because I need Angewoman real bad.[^2] The biggest indicator of this game’s [[Goopy Goblin Gamer Brain|goop]] levels is that I spent so much time planning my team that I didn’t see the title card until *ten hours into my playthrough*. It’s clear that the creators expected me to have gotten to that particular chapter much sooner than I actually did. But hey, it’s your fault you made such an addictive game, not mine! So yeah if you’re looking for some monster taming fun that doesn’t involve pikachu, definitely check it out! [^1]: Fun fact, the reason this game took so long to come out besides the increased budget is because the team needed to flesh out Iliad’s lore before they could make the game! [^2]: As a team member, of course. Also carnally, but mostly the second thing
