## 2025-11-08 Randomly came back to this — maybe because I needed more for my beat-em-up fix after clearing out [[Absolum]]. It’s probably the best feeling [[Roguelikes|roguelike]] besides that one! It’s been cleaned up a lot since it hit 1.0, with lots of cool new characters and updates to the progression. The story is so dumb and completely skippable, so it annoys me when it slows me down. But then I’m back in the trenches with Es, doing crazy combos and proccing fire balls and shit. It never gets old. And it’s perfect for when my brain feels fried. Honestly roguelikes in general are perfect for that sort of thing. I also quite like the evotype system. Basically when you finish or lose a run, you can use that version of a character in a variety of different ways — taking some of its passives for a future run, or in the Mind Challenge mode to beat bosses. You don’t really get a reward for it, but the game feels so good to play that I don’t mind turning it on and churning through a few of them. Also a big fan of it aesthetically! Everything is shrouded in gorgeous lighting and uses color really effectively. Even with 1000 effects on screen, I rarely felt like I was unable to keep track of what was going on. Low-key a sleeper hit of a roguelike. You don’t need an ounce of **Blazblue** understanding to get into it (I certainly don’t) so check it out if any of that sounded interesting. Which it should. Everything I say is interesting.
