## 2025-11-23 I never play [[Idle]] games, but I figured I’d give this one a try because I’m a fiend for the [[Mega Man Battle Network 3|Battle Network]] / [[Mega Man Star Force|Star Force]] aesthetic. I was initially bummed by this game’s premise: I continue to yearn for an indie **Battle Network**-style game that’s actually **Battle Network**, as opposed to “**Battle Network** but a twitch roguelike” or “**Battle Network** but a card game”. But after my initial lament, I got over it. In reality, **Berserk B.I.T.S** captures the fantasy of **Battle Network**’s style of internet quite well. Because the whole game is overlaid on your desktop, it really feels like it’s your NetNavi, you know, navigating the net. I’m not used to idle games, because I tend to be into games that have — and you know what it is — the [[Goopy Goblin Gamer Brain|GOOP]]! But I’ve settled into a groove with it. It’s a lot like [[Focumon is Pretty Cool|Focumon]] to me, a game that I just let rock while I’m doing stuff on my computer, including writing this here post! You send your Navi out on missions to collect EXP, money, and resources, which you use to buy materials that make you stronger. The real prizes are eggs, which hatch into little pets that produce the chips you use during missions. At first you can kinda get away with using whatever, but as the stages increase in difficulty, you do have to start thinking about what you’re going to bring into a fight, like more healing items or AOE chips. I can’t compare this idle game to others, because like I said, I never play them. However, my biggest critique so far is the complete lack of information the game seems intent on sticking to. What does leveling up a pet with food do? Do elemental affinities actually matter? What’s the point of sword chips if your NetNavi can’t teleport over to an enemy? Good luck getting **B.I.T.S** to answer those questions for you! I hope that gets addressed. The coolest part of the game is that it’s super easy to make a custom Navi and put it into the game. You can use your own sprites or grab them elsewhere, then just drop 'em in a folder and you’re good to go. I have my Navi set as my boy Star Force Mega Man. It’s cute!
