## 2025-09-06 This movie was better than [[Bad Guys|The Bad Guys]] in pretty much every way, which is an impressive feat, because I really liked the original. The stakes are higher and the plot has a bit more complexity to it. There are some incredible jokes that I don’t want to spoil. All I’ll say is that the rule of threes can be *super* effective when you use it right. And on top of that, as if Diane Foxington wasn’t enough, they added a bunch *more* hot furry ladies. All that said, my favorite part about this movie has nothing to do with the plot, characterization, or one-upping of the original’s gorgeous animation. Nope. It’s actually Cairo. The opening of this movie takes place in Cairo, and reader, I kid you not: this is probably the most realistic depiction of Cairo I’ve ever seen in a movie that wasn’t already made by Egyptians. It’s unbelievable, given that it’s *not real at all*. The detail is immaculate. I went back after the movie was done to just pause and look at still shots. Every single street is exactly how I remember it. The colors were accurate, they got the plazas and Nus El Balad just right. It’s probably silly to other people but for me it was like [[Bad Guys 2-1758474023302.gif|that ratatouille scene]]. We’ve come a long way from **Transformers 3** putting the pyramids in the middle of nowhere.
