I think one of the things that’s surprised me most about my aging is that I’ve gotten to be pretty conscious and particular about my sense of aesthetic. I used to never care about [[My Style|my style]], both physically and otherwise. But now I don’t feel comfortable without making sure things look the way I want it to.
The apex of this thought process can be found in my [[Obsidian]] workspace. My choice in font, button style, what appears on my side panels, right down to individual colors, all serve to make me enjoy being in here, writing and working. It does shift or swap now and then, to keep my [[ADHD]] lizard-brain pleased[^1] — sometimes I switch out **Recursive Sans** for **Departure Mono** if I'm feeling particular — but overall I've come to know what I like. And knowing what I like is important to me now. I sometimes wonder if that stems from a sense of individuality I definitely didn’t have when I was younger. Being a middle child that was constantly praised by everyone for being quiet might directly attribute to how much of a loud, opinionated, annoying person I am now, lmfao.
Do you have a sense of aesthetic that you're particular about? Whether that be in the clothes you wear, your physical or digital workplace, or otherwise? I’m curious to hear.

In other news, my mom's birthday has come and gone. It was a success overall — I managed to actually surprise her with a gift she wanted[^2], so that's great. July 4th has also come and gone, but I say that less with happiness and more with exhausted disdain. At least we got some good BBQ out of it, I suppose. This next week I'll be pretty busy I think, so I won't have much time to write, but that’s okay. It's also back to the gym for me tomorrow, after a few days off. I've reached the habit stage where not going to the gym after a while makes me antsy, so it's safe to say that I won’t be dropping it any time soon. I mean, unless another monumentally terrible life event happens, but…uh, just knock on wood for me I guess lol.
