## Location The story takes place in an alternate continent called “Dunyat” (spun off of “dunyah” in Arabic). Dunyat is inspired by Sudanese and Egyptian cultures. Roua is the kingdom the protagonist is from. It’s a mixture of greenery and desert, and is run by a powerful family clan. The clan is extremely proud, petty, vain and selfish. Dafina is a mixture of desert and valleys, windswept and beautiful. It has had a tense peace with Roua, and is run by a council of different families. It takes a backseat in the first half of the story, until the protagonist’s twin starts war with it near the end. ## Frames Frames are powerful mecha that are sleek and angular, similar to a mecha in Z.O.E. They can only be powered when a Pilot makes a pact with a Djinn — by giving something up to the Djinn that is tied to the Frame, the Pilot can then use the Frame in battle. Frames are rare and highly coveted. Most, if not all, Frames in Roua are under the control of its leading clan. All but one, that is… Frames are comprised of a team of 3: the Pilot that leads it in battle, the Djinn that powers its various weapons systems, and the Mechanic that maintains the Frame between battles and acts as copilot during combat. ## Other Djinn generally hate having to power Frames — they are originally free spirits that were bound to the mechanical monstrosities by powerful mages hundreds of years ago in Dunyat’s past. Magic has since diseappeared from the country, so new Frames seemingly can’t be created, despite much research being done to try and change that reality.
